Appealing to the New Generation of Consumers

Generation Z, the newest generation of shoppers, grew up in a digitized world. They have always been surrounded by the internet and social media. As a result, the things that are going to appeal to them may be different than other demographics. How can my business appeal to Gen Z, the new generation of consumers?

Understand Gen Z

It is important to understand this new generation of consumers to gain their business. To effectively advertise to a demographic, you first need to understand their wants and their attitudes. Many turn to social media to comment on their beliefs and values. Learn from the things they post. Learn from the young people you know. Consult with young people to understand what they want from a business. Follow the trends, since many of them are either created by, or heavily followed by Gen Z.

Gen Z wants to make a change in the world, and they certainly love doing this with the power of their money. They are young and see the problems in the world around us; they want to make a change for future generations. Many of them are interested in a variety of causes ranging from environmental problems to racial injustice to economic inequality. A lot people can justify paying a higher price for something if they know that a percentage of what they are paying is being used for a good cause.

Utilize Social Media

Social media is used by a large percentage of Gen Z. Using social media for your company can help get the attention of Gen Z. Keeping several active social media accounts across multiple social media platforms can help your company engage with Gen Z. Some social media platforms that are heavily used by this generation include TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, and YouTube.

Focus advertising on these platforms over others like Facebook, which tends house an older demographic. Gen Z are social media experts, so your business’ social media accounts need to be easy to find, well-organized, and attractive. If they go to a page and it does not look professional, chance are they will not purchase from your company. Use influencers to advertise products and places. Make sure that your account is interactive with consumers by answering direct messages and taking advantage of story features on social media.

Optimize the Online Experience

Gen Z was born and raised in a world where the internet is used in almost all aspects of human life. As a result, it is important to have their online experience with your business be perfect.

Much of Gen Z prefers to shop online. Having an easy-to-use and attractive website and online store is a must. Online shopping is fast and easy; it is being used more and more, especially by Gen Z. The difficult part with online shopping is creating and maintaining a relationship with the customer. Making personalized thank you notes to send with their orders is a way to connect the customer to the business and make their business feel important.

The world is changing every day around us and we need to be able to change and adapt to these changes. If we do not, we will get left behind. It is essential that you continue to adapt to the economic climate and to appeal to consumers in ways that you have not yet thought of. We hope that these tips can help your business appeal to Gen Z.
